RESUME
As a rising senior, I’m currently reflecting on my past six years in the labor market and understanding my strengths and values as a worker. The experiences I’ve gained professionally have contributed to a rich understanding of customer relations and sales strategies that I couldn’t be more grateful for.
As I complete my final semester, I plan on continuing to work for Saint Mary’s College as a student assistant for the Vice President of Student Life, and also proceeding as a Sales Representative for Baxter Wood. I’m happy to have finished writing my final Capstone paper this past April, and I look forward to finishing my undergraduate degree in English this fall.
Graduation Date:
January 2027
GPA:
3.5
Beyond my resume.
As much as I enjoy working, I am first a creative mind who values passionate labor and building relationships.
About me
My name is Malena Romero, though I go by Rosie because that’s what I’ve always been called. I am a mixed, white-presenting Latina whose relationship to identity has been shaped by both visibility and distance. While I recognize the privileges that come with being perceived as white, I have also spent much of my life navigating a sense of disconnection from the cultural heritage I was not fully raised within. These experiences have pushed me to think critically about intersectionality, representation, and the ways identity shapes both personal experience and access within larger social systems.
Education has been one of the greatest opportunities my parents worked to provide for me, and it has profoundly shaped the way I engage with the world. Growing up in an all-female educational environment taught me to value the voices, stories, and intellectual contributions of women, while my studies in English at Saint Mary's College of California have deepened my interest in literature, film, and contemporary discussions surrounding gender, culture, and identity. My academic work is grounded in curiosity, critical analysis, and a commitment to understanding how art and storytelling reflect broader social realities.
Alongside my education, I have consistently balanced academic life with professional experience, working throughout high school and college in roles centered on communication, organization, customer service, and creative outreach. These experiences have strengthened my ability to connect with diverse audiences and approach both creative and professional spaces with adaptability and intention.
Through my writing and research, I aim to engage thoughtfully with the stories, perspectives, and ideas that shape our cultural landscape while continuing to grow as both a writer and a critical thinker.
Beyond my resume, tennis has consistently been a supportive and engaging pastime where I’ve found not only passion but also community.
I began playing tennis in high school, where I joined the girls’ varsity tennis team and eventually captained it in my senior year. I got to join the intramural club team at Saint Mary’s as a freshman, and also found an overwhelming sense of community on the courts. Tennis has been an opportunity for me to harness my physical and mental strength, and, on a broader level, it has taught me to think strategically and develop control.

Journaling
Practicing journaling is an essential part of my day, and a chance for me to expel my creative energy in the form of sketch, poem, rant, and list.
Photography
I use photography in a lot of my marketing projects and art projects, so I naturally have a passion for film and photography. I like working in Adobe Lightroom to edit photos, and playing around with composition on the streets.
I’ve been making videos ever since I was little, and recently reconnected with the practice in college. Stop motion has become one of my favorite hobbies, as I value the intentional movement and attention to detail the art requires. Although time-consuming, analog hobbies feel like they’re falling out of practice, I’m happy to find myself learning new skills and crafts every year.
